COST Endorsed Candidate
Candidate for Owen Sound City Council
I'm running for Council because Owen Sound has enormous potential and realizing it will take practical solutions, collaboration and accountable local government.
I spent much of my childhood and teenage years in the Thornbury and Meaford area. Returning to this stretch of Georgian Bay has felt familiar, and getting to know Owen Sound has strengthened my commitment to helping this community thrive.
"I didn't grow up in Owen Sound, but I grew up on this bay. I want to earn this community's trust - one conversation, one issue and one neighbourhood at a time."

David recently retired after a 38-year career in the automotive industry, including serving as President and CEO of Global Automakers of Canada, a national industry association representing global automakers in Canada.
That experience involved working with people across different sectors and levels of government to find common ground and get results. David wants to bring that collaborative approach to City Council.
Through conversations at local gathering places and with the Owen Sound Cycling Club, he has come to appreciate the city’s strong community spirit, arts and culture, and remarkable natural surroundings—as well as the challenges that need attention.
Focused on the local economy, community safety, the waterfront and responsible use of taxpayers’ money.

Work with community partners to address the complex challenges of homelessness and addiction. Learn from approaches that have shown results in other communities and coordinate efforts to support safer public spaces and a healthier downtown.
Build on Owen Sound’s waterfront, natural spaces, arts and culture to attract visitors and support local tourism. A vibrant downtown—with welcoming public spaces and thriving local businesses—will help make the city a destination people want to explore.
Municipal revenue comes from residents and businesses. With affordability a growing concern, tax dollars should be spent thoughtfully, with transparent decisions, clear explanations and accountability to the community.
Owen Sound's people, culture, waterfront and natural surroundings make it a special place.
I want to help protect those strengths, address the challenges and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
